2025 Child Protection Training for Coaches (QLD)

This online Child Protection course has been designed for Coaches working with young children during sport.

Keeping your players safe whilst partaking in sport is always vital. This course will assist Organisations and Individuals to comply with their legislative requirements and meet duty of care obligations regarding Child abuse.

Course duration: 0.5 hours

Pre-Requisites:  Nil

Learning Assessment: Multiple choice questions through the course.  No further study or assessment.

Certificate: Available for download at the time of successful completion of the online learning.

Learning Outcomes of this course include:

• Child Protection knowledge and understanding;
• Types of child abuse;
• Indicators of child abuse;
• Recording and documenting concerns of harm;
• The use of informal interaction in coaching and the link to child protection;
• Safe interaction with children;
• Managing parents to protect coaches;
• Including safe child protection processes in programming that allows safe expression through communication and means other than words; 
• Awareness of mandatory reporting obligations;
• Understanding of Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme.

Upon successful completion, participants will be equipped with basic Child Protection skills sufficient to enable them to appreciate the importance of Child Protection, understand their legal obligations in relation to providing Child Protection, recognise indicators of child abuse, and notify concerns appropriately. They will also know how to act appropriately with children/players and have safe interactions with children/players.
