Behaviours inappropriate for their age

Can include 

  • bedwetting
  • sucking a dummy
  • adult like behaviour 
  • young children may begin talking like a baby

Behaviours that are inappropriate for a child’s age could be a sign of developmental delay, but it can also be a way for the child to feel safe or to seek nurturing and attention.

Toddlers and pre-schoolers eg may want to suck a dummy again, or return to nappies, or they might begin talking like a baby or wanting to be spoon fed.
