CHILD EMOTIONAL ABUSE

9. Low Self Esteem
Notes:

Information:

Low Self Esteem including

  • lacking in confidence
  • fear of failure
  • overly high standards

Emotional abuse victims often lack self esteem because they are constantly being criticised, belittled and humiliated.

For this reason, they don’t believe they can achieve even small things, and they come to fear failure.

Alternatively, they might set themselves overly high standards to achieve in the hope they may one day reach the point where they earn some kind words from their Parents, or where their Parents stop fighting.
