One section of the Child, Youth and Families Act 2005 that you should be aware of is in relation to reporting children in need of therapeutic treatment. This section applies to children between 10 and 15 years of age who are exhibiting sexually abusive behaviours.
Department Of Families, Fairness and Housing can obtain court orders to ensure children who require this treatment receive it – in an attempt to prevent the sexually abusive behaviours escalating into devastating criminal behaviours in adulthood. While the children in your care are under 10, you should be aware this section of the Act exists should you encounter victims of child or early adolescent offenders.
