Notes:

So how can you ensure you discharge your Duty of Care?

KEEP UP TO DATE WITH TRAINING - We can't say it any clearer than that!

Information:

There are several ways you can ensure that you have discharged your duty of care in relation to Child Protection.

Most importantly, keep up to date with your training. This is the single most effective way to ensure you act appropriately as required.

Child Protection strategies and laws are constantly changing. We recommend that you update your Child Protection training every twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months.

Just like first aid training, regular Child Protection training is essential to ensure you act appropriately in a time of crisis.

Child Protection is more than recognising and reporting. Child Protection is a three phase system:

  • Prevention – Teaching all children protective strategies such as 7 Steps 2 Safety.
  • Early Intervention – Identifying high risk families and situations and providing support and community referrals or reporting to authorities.
  • Response – Recognising indicators of abuse and reporting to authorities.
